R. U. Sirius
R. U. Sirius (born Ken Goffman, 1952) is an American writer, editor, musician, and cyberculture figure — best known as founding editor-in-chief of MONDO 2000, the Berkeley glossy that helped define 1990s cyberpunk before Wired. He edited the magazine line from High Frontiers (1984) through Reality Hackers (1988) to MONDO 2000 (1989–1993 as EIC; print run through 1998). He co-authored Design for Dying with Timothy Leary, Cyberpunk Handbook with St. Jude and Bart Nagel, and is writing Freaks in the Machine: MONDO 2000 in Late 20th Century Tech Culture with Shira Chess (Strange Attractor Press). Later projects include H+ Magazine, Acceler8or, and the 2017–2025 mondo2000.com relaunch.
