Whisper in the Maelström
The Lord said, 'Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.'
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.
After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
1 Kings 19
How do you escape the maelstrom? Call out for Wisdom. Search high and low for Truth. Tie yourself tightly to it when you find it. It's your only way to trans/a/scend.
The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.
Matthew 13:45
Build for yourself an ark, but not as you remember from the ancient story. Today's watercraft must be light and nimble. Beware cruise ships; sirens that topple in shallow waters. Build houses like a trimaran. But even the barrel you found to narrowly escape the maelstrom is better than nothing. Aim toward the gray havens.
Let us create vessels and sails adjusted to the heavenly ether, and there will be plenty of people unafraid of the empty wastes. In the meantime, we shall prepare, for the brave sky-travelers, maps of the celestial bodies
Johannes Kepler, in an open letter to Galileo, 1610
Fix your attention; the performance ends just before the scroll rolls like the sky in its death.
